I've been back for another view of this as it takes a while to appreciate everything. I'd love to see it on a large screen to really get the atmosphere.
On the technical side can you tell us about the programme used for putting this together. We've managed to suss out the timelapse photography but how do you handle the large number of files that are generated? Is it possible to add the natural sounds while fading the music in and out? (I know it can be done in Adobe Audition)

Amazing, seems like your other one has captured our viewers attention most but for me this is as explosive as the Geysers. Superb photography with music that fits perfectly. And all self produced. Nice!

Well there is something to be said for raw first drafts!
This was my test project as Pete said there could be two entries. It took me about an hour to complete - finding the pictures, composing in windows movie maker and saving the file. The music was the same. Although I composed and recorded this piece 18months before, it was indeed a test piece and took about an hour to record.
Anyway, I am very thankful to those to nominated this for my first (and only) photography competition win!!
(I was quietly confident about the other one actually
and I had just started getting into timelapse and movies about a month before the competition.)
As for software, this was all done on Windows Movie Maker. Timelapse technique is normally to slow things down. For example, just two seconds of my aurora clips required 8 minutes of constant photography. The Geysir eruption was as fast a shutter speed as possible at 400iso and shot on continuous mode (8 Raw images - machine gun style).
Before you load your images into Movie Maker, find the options and put the lowest possible numbers in for photograph transition and duration. It creates a kind of timelapse effect but is very slow and jery, but you can then move each one back to overlap theprevious one and the kind of fade into each other and of course the duration of the piece becomes quicker.
Any more questions, just tug on my earring
