Digital Photography Tutorial: “Focus Stacking”

I think the content is a good thing to discuss but it has to be delivered in an interesting style, I must say I got a bit bored about a third in and thats how it left me, so the point of the video is missed. It is not only this one, but many i have started to watch are too long to get the salient point across, laboured I would say. remember its a video if the watcher missed the point they can always rewind, and go over it again. 16/08/2010 - 12:16

I have been working professionally with Photoshop (currently CS5), Illustrator and Quark for many years and I can honestly say that I learned a great deal about using vectored type within Photoshop from this video. 01/07/2010 - 13:50

Sorry Cats, but if you don't have PS or similar for work at this level, you may as well take up another hobby. Image editing and Digital photography are welded together whether we like it or not. The whole point of the video is that image editing is what we use to bridge the gap from what we see with our eyes and what our camera is able to capture. What we see is not what we get and image editing is essential. It always was in film days and still is. 02/06/2010 - 10:53

Some prior warning that this was a video about photo manipulation would have been useful. For those of us without PS or similar it is of no value (excepet to demonstrate bracketing). 01/06/2010 - 09:00

Here is how you do it. 1. Open your image in Photoshop Add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. 2. Check the colorize box down right and move the Hue slider to 35, the Saturation slider to 20 and the Lightness slider to +20. Use your own judgment as to which settings you like best. 3. Select the background layer and select the elliptical marquee tool. Draw a large oval on your picture - you'll get a selection. Inverse the selection 4. Feather the selection 5... 18/05/2010 - 13:14

This doesn't look anywhere near a vintage look. First of all, in the early days of photography, there were no color photographs so a vintage photograph has to be B&W - faded to sepia plus a vignette. Look at old pictures from the beginning of the 20th century and you'll see what I mean. 16/05/2010 - 16:05
